Ángel Pincay Quiroz, founded the project in 2008, has a degree in Hospitality and Tourism and was one of the first naturalist guides of Machalilla National Park with 25 year of experience in marine mammals, especially humpback whales and birds. He is currently the owner and manager of Whale Expeditions Tour Operator,  is the organization that coordine the volunteer program and is the conection between volunteers and other organizations. He is also the current chief of tourism of the local government. His role as team leader within the project in Puerto López is to coordinate the different activities with the members of the community, municipality, Machalilla National Park and the host families that participate in the project, collaborating in the formation and organization process. Among the main organizations with which he has worked in the volunteer program is International Students Volunteer, New Horizons Foundation, etc.
